Amazon slashes affiliate payouts up to 80%
Amazon slashes affiliate payouts up to 80%. In a time when many Americans are forced to stay home, affiliate marketing is a way to make some money. If you run a website with Amazon affiliate ads on them you will now receive up to 80% less for each sale generated from your website.
The company recently sent out an email to members of the Amazon Associates program. The email starts with, “We hope you are staying well during this time” then drops a bomb on website owners that make money by referring customers to Amazon.
The email does not tell you the rates, you have to click the link to see the devastation. Many website owners and individuals rely on Amazon’s affiliate program to monetize their websites or share links other ways. These people are already hurting from the pandemic and now their income has been cut even more.
In a time when people need it the most, Amazon once again delivers a massive blow to its affiliates. This is something independent film makers know about all to well. Amazon cut their earns back last year and again this year. For those who didn't take the time to view the affiliate rate changes, please see the image above.
Now affiliates must work much harder to make the same amount of money. We use the Amazon affiliate program here on our website, while we don't make much from it, any loss makes things more difficult.
