Malcolm Young, AC/DC Guitarist and Co-Founder, Found Dead

Malcolm Young, guitarist and co-founder of AC/DC, died Saturday at the age of 64. Young had been suffering with dementia for the past three years, an illness that forced his retirement from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band he founded with his brother Angus Young in 1973.
"Today it is with deep heartfelt sadness that AC/DC has to announce the passing of Malcolm Young," AC/DC wrote in a statement.

"Malcolm, along with Angus, was the founder and creator of AC/DC. With enormous dedication and commitment he was the driving force behind the band. As a guitarist, songwriter and visionary he was a perfectionist and a unique man. He always stuck to his guns and did and said exactly what he wanted. He took great pride in all that he endeavored. His loyalty to the fans was unsurpassed."

Report: High levels of lead found in fidget spinners sold at Target

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The U.S. Public Interest Research Group (USPIRG) and the Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group (MASSPIRG) issued a warning to parents Thursday that fidget spinners being sold at Target stores nationwide were found to have high levels of lead.
MASSPIRG said they alerted the toy’s distributor, Bulls i Toy, and Target to the findings, but they “refused to address the problem.”
The agency said lab results showed two fidget spinners contained extremely high levels of lead, well over the federal legal limit of 100 parts per million (ppm) for lead in children’s products:

Student suspended for 9 weeks over off-brand Tylenol

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) –

A Chesterfield County Public Schools student is working from home, and will continue to until February, unless the school reconsiders her suspension for having off-brand Tylenol.
Sarah, a student at LC Bird, has been suspended in the past for marijuana. That punishment lasted less than 10 days, the family says.

The school recently gave her a nine-week suspension for Tylenol, which could be until February because of upcoming holidays.

The family says this isn’t fair and that she’s learned from her previous mistakes. Jason, Sarah’s father, also says he understands the school’s over-the-counter drug policy, but he thinks this punishment is too tough.

Teen charged with decapitating his mother

An 18-year-old in North Carolina has been charged with first-degree murder after authorities said he decapitated his mother Monday afternoon.

Sheriff Kent Winstead says the first officer on scene found the teenager with a knife in one hand and his mother’s head in the other.

"When they arrived, he was with the decapitation in his hand, and it was a gruesome scene. The oldest son killed his mother. It looked to be a large butcher knife, the weapon that was used. I can't tell you how many wounds,” Winstead said.

Investigators say the suspect, Oliver Funez, placed his mother’s head on the ground and was taken into custody. The body was found inside the home.

Illegal dumps have no place in county, state

Kentucky is a truly beautiful state.

We are blessed with beautiful streams, rivers and lakes, pristine forests and thousands of acres of farmland. It could be argued that Kentucky is one of the prettiest states in the union.

Given Kentucky’s beauty, it really makes one wonder why a select few would choose to litter the beautiful countryside. It is beyond our comprehension why anyone would be so lazy as to dump their garbage and other junk in nature, where it doesn’t belong.

House passes bill to create elective Bible literacy courses

Legislation that would give Kentucky’s public schools the option of offering elective Bible literacy courses was passed by the state House on Thursday after a long debate.

The bill would direct the state Board of Education to set policies for local school boards that choose to offer elective social studies courses on the Hebrew texts and New Testament.

The measure passed on an 80-14 vote and now goes to the Senate.

“The Bible, without question, is the single-most impactful literary document that we’ve had in Western civilization,” said bill sponsor Rep. DJ Johnson, a Republican from Owensboro. “It’s affected our cultures, our values, our laws.”

Police Chase Ends in Arrest

Two women are facing several charges after police say they led them on a chase in Laurel County.
A police officer tried to pull over a Chevy pickup truck driving on Black Road in London just before 6:00 Friday night. Rather than pulling over and stopping, police say the driver of the truck, Michelle Neal, 41, of Rockhold, sped off against traffic, leading police on a chase and ignoring stoplights along the way.

Police say Neal tried to cause the police officer to wreck his cruiser. They say at one point she did cause the cruiser to hit the truck, causing substantial damage to the cruiser.

During the chase, police say a passenger in the truck threw a bag out the window that contained several unused needles as well as several other needles containing a substance police suspect is meth.
When police did stop the truck, they say Neal refused to get out and had to be removed.
Police say Neal admitted to using drugs earlier that day, and police determined she was under the influence.

Neal faces several charges including fleeing or evading police, DUI, wanton endangerment of a police officer, resisting arrested and drug possession (meth), among other things.
