Two women are facing several charges after police say they led them on a chase in Laurel County.
A police officer tried to pull over a Chevy pickup truck driving on Black Road in London just before 6:00 Friday night. Rather than pulling over and stopping, police say the driver of the truck, Michelle Neal, 41, of Rockhold, sped off against traffic, leading police on a chase and ignoring stoplights along the way.
Police say Neal tried to cause the police officer to wreck his cruiser. They say at one point she did cause the cruiser to hit the truck, causing substantial damage to the cruiser.
During the chase, police say a passenger in the truck threw a bag out the window that contained several unused needles as well as several other needles containing a substance police suspect is meth.
When police did stop the truck, they say Neal refused to get out and had to be removed.
Police say Neal admitted to using drugs earlier that day, and police determined she was under the influence.
Neal faces several charges including fleeing or evading police, DUI, wanton endangerment of a police officer, resisting arrested and drug possession (meth), among other things.
The passenger in the truck, Casey Lainhart, 40, of East Bernstadt, was also arrested and charged with public intoxication and drug possession (meth), among other things.
Both Neal and Lainhart were booked in the Laurel County Detention Center.
