Currently there are 3,779 confirmed cases in Kentucky. There has been 200 reported deaths in the state due to COVID19. Total recoveries at the time of this writing is 653.
Jefferson county has the majority of confirmed cases and deaths with 1,121 cases and 78 deaths. The next highest count of 226 cases comes from Fayette county. It appears that Jefferson is the Kentucky hotspot for confirmed cases and deaths.
There are over 10 counties that have only 1 confirmed case of Coronavirus. There is another 10 plus counties that still have zero cases. The counties with not confirmed counties are Bell, Harlan, Lee, Estill, Wolfe, Magoffin, Elliott, Owen, Robertson, Metcalfe, Fulton and Livingston.
Antibody testing has begun is several cities within the United States. The early results are indicating that many may have already had the virus several months ago. If these results are accurate then perhaps the worst of the outbreak is over.
The FDA has indicated, antibody testing has the potential to help healthcare professionals identify people who have been exposed to COVID-19 and who have developed an immune response to the virus.
In Santa Clara County California, more than 3,000 people volunteered for antibody testing. The results indicated that between 48,000 and 81,000 people could have been infected with Covid-19. Meaning that Covid-19 could be far more widespread than the officials first thought. That would also mean that many more people have already had the virus, survived and now have an immunity response to it.
Antibody testing is needed in every state to make a more detailed analyses. Here in Kentucky we had some type of virus come into the southeastern part of the state back in November and December. That virus hit our family and some were tested for the flu. The test came back as negative for type A and B flu. We have spoken with numerous people who also had this unknown virus. This has lead many to believe that the coronavirus might have already been in the area. Antibody testing would confirm what many suspect.
Everyone continue to stay safe and take precautions. Wash your hands, practice social distancing, and if you are sick avoid contact with others.
