Cold Case Files - Jennifer Bailey

A Cold Case by definition is an unsolved murder case investigation which remains open pending the discovery of new evidence.

Sometimes after many years, this new evidence comes forward in the form of a witness who seen something and had never reported it.

Bell county, Kentucky is home to several cold cases. For this post will we will feature a murder that took place 25 years ago. The Abduction and eventual murder of Jennifer Bailey started on August the 16th of 1990 but it is still fresh in the minds of many people in Bell County even today.

Here is the rundown of the case via the Kentucky State Police website.

"On 8-16-1990 Jennifer Bailey went to Pine Mountain State Park to go jogging and was reported missing on this date. On 8-26-1990 at Pine Mountain State Park about 1 1/2 miles from where Jennifer Baileys car was parked, her body was found over a bluff and all evidence indicates that she was murdered. If you have any information pertaining to this case, please contact Detective Bryan Johnson Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan 606-573-3131."

The area where Bailey went to jog is commonly call the"fat track". It is a popular spot for people to walk or jog. The normal parking area for these joggers is right next to the main highway. During this time it is very safe to assume that cars would have been passing by. Maybe someone who seen something and has never reported it, will come forward.

Bailey's body was found in an area known as the "Gravel pit". That area had previously been searched with dogs and the remains were not found. This led to the speculation that the body had been at another location and was returned at a later time.

In small towns rumors have a way of spreading around quickly. Some in the community have long believed that there is much more to this disappearance and murder that meets the eye.

Anyone with information about this cold case is urged to contact the Kentucky State Police at 606-573-3131.

WASP X-Jet

A comparison of the enhanced video (right) to the original (left).
This is a video enhancement of a video that shows the Williams WASP X- Jet in flight. Many may not know about this long lost and forgotten flying machine. In my opinion it was pretty amazing and this was back in 1974!

It would be nice to have these now on a consumer level. A quick trip to the store would not only be fun but also save time. I'm sure the 45 minutes of max flying time would have been much long by now.

This same company also invented a Jet belt back in 1969 but it seems that technology has also been kept from public use.

Here is the video.

We have to wonder, if we had this back in 1974, just what do we have now? I guess this has went the way of many of Nikola Tesla's inventions.

The "flying cars" of the future appears to have been snatched up and hid away by the government.
